Another recovered set of files. This time a lump of rust.

As I got it.

DSCN1403.JPG

It be a bit broken.

The fixed jaw is broken, the nut for the thread is in bits and the jaw is missing.

The good quality of the casting allowed a nice OA braze to take.

DSCN1413.JPG

I drilled out the old 3/8 whit screws, they had all broken.
Drilled and tapped in a M12 stud, machined them flat and drilled them out to take a nice new M8 Screw.

New jaws made.

DSCN1446.JPG

To replace the missing metal, on the fixed jaw.
I made a up a metal band, which jad metal pins riveted through and into the fixed jaw.
Then I poured in melted alloy to make up the missing material.

Not to bad under paint.

The gold leaf will show any flaws in the casting writing.

Looks good in red!

I have a couple of woden vices kicking about that could do with some love. I have thought of a green but red could work. Probably more vices than I have space for though!

Nice, I picked up this woden vice stand last week. Unusually it's in great condition- no grinder scars or weld spatter!

Brill - stands are much rarer than vices -- I see a good Parky on the Woden stand

Unusual colour, but I quite like it - might try that on my next vice.

Couldn't hit buy it now quick enough when it came up as >5 miles on my ebay search! Not a fan of the poo brown though. I was thinking I may use it to display some of my smaller clamp on vice collection....

Had another look -- it seems to say Parkinson's Perfect Vise, but I see no quick release - -?

To be honest I'd not noticed! I only wanted the stand anyway, I might swap it for something nicer from the hoard.
