Save your petrol and go to the SK show the following weekend. Money and time much better spent.

I agree whole-heartedly with Steve.

Gill

Certainly not worth my petrol if it is the same cramped effort as last time.

I'm with you guys, but what could be done to either block them or a fine. I didn't have that option the other day when driving along I was pulled and will have to wait for the outcome.

A few spam related complaints coming in. But rather than delete the topic I'll let democracy take it's course and perhaps the opinions already posted will give some indication to the show organisers how a small portion of the woodworking public feel about their show and their method of promoting it.

Noel
Absolutely right.

I'd just like to make it clear that my opinion is based on experience of previous shows put on by this company rather than just baseless prejudice.

Ditto.

Crikey, I'm beginning to sound like Steve's mynah bird!

I was under the impression that commercial companies whatever they are selling had to pay to advertise on the site, maybe I'm wrong here, is it open house now :?:

Nice to have a moderators post on the situation (Noel)(thanks) and we all (small amount at present) have made a comment. It may change future (trade/spam) what ever you want to call it, verdict on what is fair and what is not. Oh by the way which of you lot let Gill out of the cage!!!

I guess all publicity's good publicity

Certainly not in this case.

And no Gardenshed it is not open house. Look beyond the first post in this thread and then see if you think it is advertising. From the subsequent posts there appears to be good advice based on informed and sound opinions. I'd rather people knew some background on this particular show and were able to make their own judgement rather than see it advertised elsewhere and spend time and money attending it without any prior knowledge. There is also the added bonus for members to be aware of another show the following week. Look at the bigger picture.

I have looked, and to me it's an advert from a company promoting their products. looking at the posters total posts to date they are all adverts imho.

i think the point was that when you look at every other post on this thread opinion is negative about the woodex - hardly the desired effect for merrideene.

btw - other forums i go on handle this kind of thing by leaving the post up but deleting links or contact info - that way the spammer gets no satisfaction from there post but forum members can still discuss it.

There was no intention of putting an advertisement for the show on your forum.

I requested a colleague to put a diary listing on the Sticky: Woodworking Show Dates ***2008*** page as other commercial events have done.

Clearly my colleague missed the target and started a new topic instead. This was certainly not intended and it is not our policy to do this.

I have asked another colleague to update the show dates as was our original intention.

Organiser.
