Hi chaps,

I'm trying to connect some peripherals to my new laptop via Bluetooth but I'm not having much success.

I know how to do it, and have done it countless times with other computers and devices, but it seems to be an issue with Windows 7.

This is the default message which appears:

Windows 7 Bluetooth Authentication Error.jpg

I found a forum post which suggested to change the "Bluetooth Support Service" settings from Startup Type:Automatic to Manual. However, as mine was already set to manual I did the opposite before attempting to connect my smartphone. This is what popped up:

Windows 7 Bluetooth Error Code 0x8004005.jpg

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Mark

Your new laptop probably has old drivers on it, update all the drivers from the manufactures website and try again.

Had an issue on Win7 where it wouldn't recognise new monitor driver. Kept telling me drivers were installed. If the above suggestion to update the drivers doesn't work you could try the following work around. You'll need to download newest drivers from manufacturers websites first.

Hi chaps,

Thanks for the advice so far.

The first thing I did with the laptop was to update all the drivers, so that shouldn't be the reason why it's not working.

To be honest, Bluetooth connectivity isn't vital, though it would be nice to have another option to trailing cables. I don't like giving up once I start something, but after wasting all evening trying to fix it I realised I have much better things to do than trawling through the internet for solutions!

Of course, if someone knows what I should try then I'll give it another go, but otherwise it doesn't really matter.

Cheers,
Mark
