Spoke to them before, seem very friendly but never brought from them. I guess you used to use Yandles in Somerset?
There is a place in the Forest of Dean but can't remember their name at the moment and a place near Cirencester, Haleys Wood sawmill I think.

Oh and the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum hold occasional sales of wood from the arboretum

Yandles are pricey

I'll give them a try and report back then. Yes I used Yandles when I was in Somerset (and still will when I'm down visiting) but it appears a well stocked self-selection merchant is a rare thing.

It depends on how far you are prepared to travel. If you give Sykes a call and tell them what you are after then they will pull out stuff for you to look at and select from. Whitmores just down the road will take you down to the sheds and you can go through some boards there. But has to be said that the size of boards they deal in are pretty big and maybe more than some people need.

You could always jump in the car this Saturday and pop up to Ledbury to Pugh's auction. Some interesting smaller pieces there by the look of it.
