Matty,
I thnk you will have trouble finding a 5hp inverter with single phase input. They tend to stop at 3 -4 hp max.
At 5 and above they take 3 phase input and output 3 phase. In these applications the inverter is being used for its speed control and braking features rather than phase conversion where the small ones score.
Most inverters can be conned to run on single phase inputs by feeding the single phase into each of the three phase input terminal. The rarely check that internally for any phase difference.
However you will need to step up the voltage from 230 to 415 as they do check for input voltage.
Power capacitors will probably sell you an auto transformer to do this as they use these in their phase converter. I did get a price from them once a while ago for just this purpose. Very helpful people IMHO.
