Who needs a planer/thicknesser anywy?

The way he was using the planer on the edge, it's not surprising that the cable had been cut at least twice!

Flat-ish...

I love the clapped-out planer that is already on some version of the electrical cord down from its first (with the two mended spots where it has also gotten run over itself)... I just kept waiting for it to say "i give up" and die in a cloud of smoke.

Amazing wood though.... although looked from the cut destined to crack. Also other than something I would smash my shin into every morning I couldn't really figure out what it was supposed to be... lol

Also, I bet the when a health and safety type is "naughty" they are not allowed to sit in their safe space and are made to watch things like this until they recant their multitude of sins...

But as beautiful as the finished item is, I can't help thinking it would have been better to have left it as a tree.

Exactly. I saw one bloke shoving a board into the thicknesser with his bare feet !

What about crouching down on the output side so you're eye level with the board coming out, and can see what's going on?
