I have the smaller LS1013 Makita and it is a really good saw.

I have no experience of those you have chosen but I have read poor reviews of the Dewalt and fairly good reviews of the Metabo. But with my experience of the Makita and the very good reviews of the 12" model I would probably have a look at that if I were you.

Well, I can only advise you not to go for the Bosch! :p The 10in model is regarded as more reliable (most are) but I just never got on with mine. Too much flex. Where it wasn't accurate, the inaccuracies weren't 'consistent' either. :p

I used to work with a DW708 (I think it's a 12in saw? Predecessor to the DW718.) and that was very reliable and accurate.

Currently using a Makita LS1013, which I'm very happy with. Although, it's only a 10in saw.

I said Bosch as i have the 8" one and its bang on accurate, smooth to use and a very sturdy design. I have heard great things about the 718 but im doubting the quality these days of the newly manufactured tools. Not used the metabo.

As my main i also use the Makita LS1013 i think. I would by the maki again if it broke!

These days I only use the mitre saw for (Axminster 10") cutting off lengths and then use a sled on my tablesaw for accurate cuts using a stop for repeat pieces. But for site work this of course is not practical.

I voted for the Dewalt although I do not have the DW18 model. I do have the DW712 and have had this for about 4 years and it has performed flawlessly with lots of use.
The cuts are also very accurate.

Steve.

I have the De Walt and am very happy with it. I have found it very accurate and a solid piece of kit. Only down side is it is so big and heavy for moving around on site. Great tool though.

I have the Dewalt 718, it's the one with the laser fitted, which I thought would never get used but it's very handy for unknown angled cut's(if you can't be arsed to get the protractor out). I wouldn't hesitate to buy the 718 again, it's very accurate for a choppy, but very large, and a chore to move about.

The dewalt looks to be the more favourate saw

another forrum pointed me to the new hitachi c12LSH / c12RSH

this one looks to be a real winner.

has anybody experience with this one

I think you'd be disappointed with the build quality at the moment.

Not on the bigger saws they seem fine I bought an LS1013 about a year or two ago and its fine I think the problems are with the newer smaller Makita saws

very happy kgs305 owner here. 7 years old, so electra beckum version, but never had a problem and still accurate. dont think it is the best design possible, but it works very well.

Hello,

I do not know which one, but I know which one not: do not buy the DW718, for Heaven’s sake! I own one, but buying it was a great mistake. The fence casting (aluminium) is machined inaccurately, so the left side of the fence is not square to the base, and the two halves of the fence do not line up properly. The machined surfaces have pronounced milling marks. The construction is inadequate, as you can deflect the saw-aggregate with slight hand pressure, so the cuts you make will be out of true. And setting up/adjusting the mitre angles to tune the machine is a real pain. The only positive things about this machine are the adjustable speed and the blade brake.

Have a nice day,

János

I think i will go for an outsider,

I really like the Hitachi C12LSH 12" sliding mitre saw
