Thinking about one of these...The LS1040 or its replacement (so I've been advised!) the MLS100.

Any thoughts.

I have the MLS100. Its a very good saw but its not the got the strongest guard in the world and other things are a bit plasticy etc.

I've no qualms about its cutting ability, power or blade quality.

Believe it or not it used to sell for about £50 when it first came out about 5 years ago.
 
I have the LS1018 and it is an awesome bit of kit (different price range though). Makita do great chop saws IMHO. Noticeably more accurate and robust than the DW and Bosch equivalents I have tried.
