After speaking to a friend who is also thinking of purchasing the Earlex HV5000, he pointed out to me that he has come across the Apollo 1200, its in the same price range but looks more "industrial" but i know sometime looks can be deceiving.
Has anyone out there got one or seen some comparative reviews against the Earlex?

I was just about to go to screwfix and buy it as well.......

What let's the Apollo Spraymate & 1200 down is the gun, better gun on the Earlex

I'd give another vote for the Earlex HV5000, I've not used the fuji or the other one mentioned above but I do know that the earlex is nice and easy to use and gives good results.

I am also looking into buying a HVLP spray system at the moment. Would probably be willing to spend around the £400 pound mark if someone persuaded me it was worth it.

Im torn between the Fuji and the apollo systems really. does anyone have an opinion on these two V's each other?

Ive used the apollo spray master 1200 briefly before and thought the turbine seems good but the gun felt very cheap.

I had a little Apollo and it was very good. The gun was basic, but the results were still pleasing. I got a good offer on a bigger Apollo with a Proline gun and jumped at it. It's essentially perfect.

But.

The issue with spraying is not just the machine, you have to have somewhere clean, dry and still in which to spray. I don't have the space indoors, and outdoors has its own problems (not least the wind) so in reality I've gone back to hand finishes like the hardwax oils.

I hope when I next have a workshop that I'll be able to have a dedicated finishing area, in which case my Apollo will come into its own again.

Noise - all HVLP systems are noisy, because they rely on a turbine rather than a compressor. Of course, some may be noisier than others, but I've never come across a "quiet" one!

Sorry to drag up an old thread, bit things have moved on since this thread was started, I did a lot of soul searching to decide which HVLP system to eventually get, this is a thread I put together on the subject: hvlp-investigation-t97331.html
