Which first fix nailer?

I’m looking for a battery only (no gas) FFN, for use on a few timber frame builds I’ve got coming up next year. My current 18V system is Makita, and they don’t do a nailer so I need to look elsewhere. What would the collective recommend?

Alternatively, should I just go for a paslode and the hassle of gas?

Dewalt have nice battery strip nailers for framing and brad nailers for trim work.
I have used both and do like them, the gas paslodes are much lighter though.

I have one of the first available DeWalt 18v nailers and can't fault it, had it for years and it's done a fair bit of work. I sold my Paslode 350 within weeks of getting the DeWalt.
Duke is right about the weight difference but I got fed up of having to strip down the Paslode after a heavy day's use and iffy gas especially in winter also it was fussy about nails whereas the DeWalt will fire just about any brand.

I had a Milwaukee one for sale on here mid-November which I’d bought weeks before specifically to help with a family job.

The blurb said it would fire c700 nails on the single charge of a 5amp battery but I found it would easily cope with more and didn’t miss a beat using 90mm and 63mm nails.

It was certainly heavier than a Paslode or similar and at the end of the first day or so of use I could feel it, but after that you just got used to it.

I’d highly recommend it but didn’t have justification for keeping it once the job was done.

I didn’t get a sniff of a sale on here which would always be my first place to sell but ended up selling it for more than advertised on FBM where I had to fight them off!

They do come up occasionally and I think there’s a couple on there now around Yorkshire/NE way so might be worth a look
