Where can I get a brass old fashioned tap that screwstoiwall

I dont even know the trade name of such.
back bracket screws to the wall, normal cross handle turn, outlet water end is threaded for hose connection.
Dont want a fancy chrome modern contraption, it replaces the one in our leanto and no space for modern stuff.

Had another look, the bracket is separate and is elbow shape with female iron thread.(not needed that part, I hope!)

You want a “utility” tap (it has a 3/4 BSP thread for the hosepipe) and a “wall plate elbow” to fix it to the wall. They are also known as Garden or outside taps too.

Get yourself a roll of PTFE tape to wrap around the thread of the tap too.

Thanks all. the ebay will do the trick if I cannot put a washer in the existing tap, Its so old and painted many times I will be surprised if it comes apart.

That's a standard tap.

Any plumbers merchant should have that on the shelf.

it's called a bibcock and the back plate is usually sold separately.

And as a further tip, as it's going to be outside, presumably for a garden hose, may I suggest a wheel for ON/OFF control, rather than the normal, indoor "cross bar" type control. We have 2 of these outside, and when we first moved here my wife especially (me too sometimes) had great difficulty turning them ON/OFF, specially after they'd been OFF for a while. I changed the standard tops for hand wheel types (bought separately) and no problems since.

Looks like if I need employment again at 80 I could perhaps go fulltime plumbing. Fitted a new washer and the bore hole I adapted on the rubber washer it was undersized, and I got the iron nut released with a 12" king ****, which I have had a long time :wink:
