When to Spit.

HIYA All. Has anyone wearing one of the full face breathing masks made the mistake of using spittal to wet their bevel sharpner.
If you have its a sure sign that the head piece suites you. Just thought I'd ask .I have done it dozens of times especilly when using a scraper.
Is it frowned upon to use spit or should i have a glass of water handy.One thing is for sure the facemask is always spitlessly clean. REgards Boysie Dehydrated.

I've also tried blowing shavings.

The problem I have at the moment is that the workshop is a bit chilly and the cold air going over my face makes my nose run

I forgot about the runny nose which have a lot to do with colds, as for blowing the shavings I am exahusted after half an hour what with me nose running and blowing like hell I dont have the energy to spit. I wonder would there be a market for inside electric wipers. How about it Blister you could upgrade your crash helmets to inside electric air filters. Worth a thought?? REgards Boysie.

HIYA Jenx, If you ever get over here give me a shout, that goes for anyone on the forum, you will all be welcome, not all togeather mind you.Our club meets on the last Saturday of each month so you will meet lots of very good turners. Always have hankered to visit the Emerald Isle, Boysie... and not made it yet, -- if 'work' won't let me go, I'll just have to jump on the bike and have a wee 'tour' around during a holiday. 8)
I was supposed to come over to see some fellas in the Bord-Gas down in Cork last year, but the plans got scuppered at the 11th hour

What I need is for some big contractor to decide to build a new refinery or gas-plant for Kinsale or something 'juicy' like that, and then I have the excuse to get the work to pay for coming ! 8) 8)

Keep promising myself... " Soon " --- sometime in 2009 maybe !

We should collectively organise a 'Paddysland Bash' for the spring time and ALL come !

HIYA Jenx, If your in the gas business Shell have been trying to set up a plant in Mayo which upset the natives. But with things the way they are I think they are going to have to let it get going.Est.9 billon barrells 20 years supply. Mayo have the largest woodturning chapter in Ireland I believe. They have just hosted the national woodturning symposium with turners from all over the world attending.
