I see on some ecological sites that people are pressing together bits of wheat to form boards. Has anyone any familiarity with these?

Could they be a healthy alternative to MDF?

Sorry my first post on a woodwork site is actually about a grass, but there you go.

Hi Del, welcome to the forum. I'd never heard of wheatboard until your post. A quick "Google" found some interesting stuff, such as zero formaldehyde emissions and the fact that cut edges are "tighter" than regular MDF, meaning less absorbent for paint. There must be millions of tons of wheat chaff produced every year, so recycling it makes a lot of sense to me.

OK, now I'm intrigued. After a quick hunt online, I can't find any suppliers, or at least not on this side of the atlantic. I'd be interested to have a play, anyone know where I can find it?
