For me
power tools:
1 Kity 419 with sliding table
2 Porter Cable router
3 Delta thicknesser - sooo smooth

Handtools :
1 Japanese saw and chisels (yes I know that's two)
2 LN block plane
3 Veritas shoulder plane

1. Bandsaw (surprise)
2. Hitachi circular saw
3. PC biscuit jointer (not that I use it much, it's just so nice to deal with when I do)

Hand Tools (three?! Only three?! You have to be kidding...)

1. 1.5" firmer chisel by Swearby (I think. Bit faint)
2. L-N bronze block plane
3. Record #405 combination plane.

The above changes from day to day and hour to hour of course

I;ve got a woodrat, it's great. Really like it.

Before we start a in-depth woodrat thread, I suggest you either

A) start a dedicated thread as non 'ratters get annoyed
b) Use the search facility as this has been discussed extensively, and possibly contact people via personal message.

In the search you'll need three terms

Woodrat
'ratters
'rat

To get all the hits - you may have to search one at a time.

Hi Bean ...you seem to have lit a fuse with asleitch !!!!! It is true that the WoodRat seems to cause a lot of strong feelings- I dont really know why.

Maybe our Moderator can move this to a new thread and our Ratters can respond without upsetting sensibilities.

A hand drill almost made it into my top three, but slipped to number four on a recount. Which scraper plane are you favouring then? Nosey scrapers need to know

I like the Stanley #80 cabinet scraper. Truth to tell, it's the only scraper plane I've ever used but it delivers the goods every time.

Unfortunately, my sanding station is no more . It died shortly after I used it to put 45 degree angles onto some tiles that were going into the bathroom. The refurbished bathroom does look rather nice, though. Pennies are going into a piggy bank dedicated to a new sanding station at a rate that's altogether too slow for my liking. One day I'll drag my finance advisor (and his rather more substantial piggy bank :wink: ) down to the local Tool Mart ...
