I have all sorts in my wood pile but there is a down side
I dont know which wood is which and untill I cut into a piece I have no idea what is going to be like
Today is a classic example
I have cut four 12 inch blanks out of two lengths of 3*3 and started to turn them into cylinders
Aurrrrrrgh
The wood is soft and splintery as heck even when using a fine grade glass paper to finish it still splinters
So soft that I have to keep tightening the tail stock as the live centre " drills" in and the four prong centre in the head stock as drilled in 10 mm... I had a thought of sealing them until I was turning a piece which stopped turning/rotating. Live centre dug in half inch and head stock centre was just spitting out chippings every time I tightened up tail stock..
Now they are .... FIRE WOOD!
