One of my father's old bench planes has cast on the plane (under the frog) the following: 5 and underneath the 5 is B.V.S. CO. I believe that the 5 stands for the number 5 bench plane but I do not know what tool manufacturer used the initials B.V.S. CO. My two thoughts were William V, Studdiford but I could not find much informatiion about him or Bailey Victor Stanley for when Stanley bought the Victor Company from Leonard Bailey but I have not gotten any confirmation on this guess. Can anyone help me find out who made this plane and when it might have been made? :?:
