Hello peoples

I got given some freshly cut Cedar logs today and want to cut some planks from them, is it best to let them dry first and then cut or cut and then dry?? I'm thinking the latter but would love to hear what people thinks best..
Thank you in advance
Tony

Plank them (or rive them) now! No delay. The weather's hot ..! Then get them off the ground in stick, in the airy shade with a rain cover ...
Thanks Rog, I was tempted to do it this afternoon but second guessed myself....... :ROFLMAO:

If you plan to dress them later, suggest you cut the planks wider and thicker than you may expect - to allow for shrinkage and cupping.
And as rogxwhit rightly says, keep them off the ground ' separated with battens to allow for good air flow
Being cedar, they should not take too long to "season"
