what to do with off cuts??

hi all, as the tittle says what to do with offcuts.
may get deleted as its a question i have been asked by my boss.
thought id ask here.
in work we have at a guess 40 cube of off cuts mainly oak but also usa black w-nut malpe sycamore poplar ash.
all maily onder 2ft range of sizes.
what would you suggest

I've seen (and bought) selections of offcuts like that on e-bay - good for turning,all nice timbers.
Problem with them is delivery (due to the weight) - several carriers will take up to 30kgs for a fixed price;bag them up as a selection of timbers,15-20kgs per lot ?

So why are you so far away?

I would drive over and fill the car if you were near to me, sounds like you could make assorts of things with your supply.

Selling it on eBay is one way of passing it on.

pack what you can into a group of boxes (all the same size) and sell each box for 10-15 pounds.

advertise in the newspaper or on ebay or wherever.

If anywhere near Barry,and you could drop some off,I could arrange to have it collected from there and delivered to me (40 cube is perhaps a little ambitious,though - even for me.. :wink: )

You have Crow Valley Woodturners based in Pontypool. I'm sure some of their members would be interested. It depends where in South Wales you are but there are a number of turning clubs in the Swansea area as well.

Never mind the turners, small offcuts like that would be great for making small boxes from.

I too am willing to drive to south wales and fill the back of the car. Hell, I will bring the trailer and take the lot of your hands if you are giving it away

as a starter on woodworking and younge dont get alot of money to buy alot of wood to practice on..

so sure many people like me wood like to buy them.

some of the ones on ebay can even go for a fair amount, as there more than just starters want the wood 2. even costs to much for me only part timer as well

scrollers, turners, model makers, box makers, all would find such a proposition attractive. As already stated some delivery companies will deliver up to 30kg for a fairly modest fee (Gibson craftwood on ebay say £12-50 for up to 30kg by parcelforce 48 ). How about knocking up a 30 kilo box of offcuts and posting a pic with the price you would like for it and then members can offer to purchase as many boxes as they wish. As several people have indicated distance means collection is not feasible, but postage of £12-50 for 30 kilos is not prohibitive if you are willing to package it up.
