What shoulder plane?

Last time I spoke to Mike I bought a Clifton convex spokeshave

He let me have a play with his chair seat that he drags round all the shows with him

Looks OK and will probably clean up nicely without too much trouble. But watch how the price goes and don't pay silly money for it.

I can't really advise you on that - I've never bought anything from ebay. I prefer to see and handle planes before buying them. However, if you really want me to quote a figure, based on other planes I have bought second-hand, I personally wouldn't go above £30.

Try the Veritas Large shoulder plane if you can, it may not be as pretty as some of the more traditional styles but it's a real joy to use.

Just a thought, Brian. That plane should have a bullnose front piece but I can't see it in any of the pictures. If it's missing, give it a miss.
