what is the best way to achieve a curvey design

Hi,
I found this picture last week, I'd really like to try and make something curvy of my own.
it really interests me about those side curves, would such an extreme curve be possible with say flexible MDF with a thin laminate over the top or is there another product or method I should be thinking about?

just buy the timber from B and Q and make it from solid.

Yes bendy Mdf will do that no problem - an alternative is to buy solidwood then cut kerfs (slots) into it 3/4 through to make it bend. Bear in mind you'll need 4 planks : 2 x 2 that equal the sidewall thickness you want, cutting the kerfs into all of them, then glue pairs kerf face to kerf face onto the former(s) that way you'll have inner and outer faces without kerf cuts showing.

I would do this over just 1 bendy side and a laminate because it won't have a great deal of strength on it's own, plus there's a possibility that the kerf cuts might show through a thin veneer and also be prone to drying out and cracking where it sits unsupported over the kerf cut slot.

You'll obviously need a face frame to cover the edge up - and depending on how much weight you intend to put it under possibly a solid back like 10mm veneered ply (not just a cover sheet) for more support.
