What Grit Of Paper To Use?

Hi,
I've used a heat gun to strip the paint off from my 1930s pine doors. I then took down to bare pine using 40 grit paper. What grit of papers are best to get ready for applying shellac button polish, then on top of that Briwax antique pine?

A scraper is essentially a small sheet of steel to which you apply a hooked edge using a steel rod and use it to scrape away a thin shaving of wood like a plane. It will leave a smooth finish but by the time you've done a quarter of one side of a door you will want to amputate your own thumbs.

It may help to understand what finish you're after on your doors as I think you may be making your life harder by applying french polish and then Briwaxing.

I restored all the old doors in our last house, had them dipped, sanded at about 80 grit and then at 180 grit and then applied the Briwax. 3 coats of Briwax with a lot of elbow grease to really work it in smooth, gave a nice finish

I did much the same to my internal doors.
They still look good 26 years later!
I think I've given them 2 coats of Briwax since then.
The good thing about doing this is dings are easy to remove & cover.

if it was me i would 80 grit in a belt sander then 120 then 320 grit in a flat bed sander,then apply the finishing coat of polish, should do the trick!
