Hello,

I have a used PS3 40gb in excellent condition with the box, 3 wireless controllers, a hdmi cable, a remote control, 5 games, 2 blue-Ray dvd's.

It seems a lot of hassle with Ebay as I've never used it, I have a lot of things id like to sell but don't know if it's hassle? all proceeds to my new Workshop build :da

What would you suggest is a decent price?

Cheers

Its probably going to sound a little low but i would have thought £250-£280 depending on what games and if the controllers are all official.

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure, I'd be happy to get £250, so anything else would be a bonus.

Is their much involved in setting up an Ebay account?

Cheers

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Selling consoless on eBay is hard work. Mainly because it's flooded with them. Have a look on there for similar consoles's and see what prices they are going for. You can do a search on completed listings.

Setting up an account is easy, just fill in the boxes.

Cheers Wizer!

I know what you mean, been looking this evening, it's not quite turning into a Planer/Thicknesser at the moment, I think I'll have a go selling it private.

I could try and trade it in at my local Tool shop

i disagree, selling consoles on ebay is a doddle. it doesn't matter how many there are on there, everyone bids on the ones finishing at the time anyway. I must have sold over 10 consoles via ebay and have always found it easy. I usually ask for paypal payments and require they pay right away, that way I get the money very quickly and the transaction is very easy.

It doesn't cost a great deal either if you don't bother with all the add-ons that ebay suggests. Just list it with a low starting price, no reserve and no buy-it-now. It will go for the maximum price anyone is willing to pay and hence you'll get what it's worth. Again, it's worth reiterating, it doesn't matter how many consoles there are on the site as there is a massive demand for these (due to the costs of buying new) and there are buyers bidding against each other for every console - only 1 person wins, so the others that missed out then bid on the next one and so on and so on.

Well I guess if it's a new account you'll have zero feedback. I haven't done much on Ebay for a long time but sellers who had zero feedback usually don't do quite as well as sellers with good feedback.
Then there's the chargeback situation - if you are very unlucky.
Just some things to consider.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in the paper on the way home was an advert for an 80gb PS3 plus 4 recent games for £280. For what you have I would think anything over £200 would be a good sale second hand. Remember the 40gb is not backwards compatible with PS2 games, so the quality of the games will be crucial - if they are the release games they are available as platinum titles new £10-15 each, cheaper sencond hand. Stick it on with a decent reserve and see how high it goes - offer to deliver locally or happy for cash on pick-up and you might still get a buyer as a christmas present.

My son and I do quite a bit of selling on Ebay and it is easy.
Having said that, you will need a Paypal account, which means bank details to ebay. It will help to sell things if you go on to Auctiva's website, subscribe to that. (which is free)
It will enable you to put up to 10 photo's free and supersized, and that can help you over the competition.
Good luck
