Well, I went for the Jet, which arrived on Wendesday evening. I don't expect to have time to use it before Santa goes back into hibernation, but I've unpacked it and set it up just to get it out of the house, and I must say it has a good quality feel to it - lots of weight, robust mountings etc.
ON the whole I have a good opinion of Jet kit - I'll let you all know how I get on with it in the New Year.

I finally got to use the machine yesterday - having done a bit of temporary rearranging in the shop to get it into a usable position - and so far I'm impressed. It's not flawless (but then, what is? - other than Katherine Jenkins, obviously) but I'm impressed on first use. It's relatively quiet, and the cast-iron table damps out vibration nicely. My initiation was by sanding a curved profile to the end of a piece of Padauk, which came out very nicely. As confidence grows with practice, I guess it's going to be used more than I might have expected.
