There I was this morning beavering away in the WS and the postman arrived with a parcel. Having already received what I ordered a few weeks ago I was intrigued, what made it even stranger was that the invoice address was not the same as the postal address, for some reason it was invoiced to Mike C way up there in Fraserburgh. So I PM'd Mike to find out what was going on, and I have to say his response left me speechless.

I thank all of you who took part in SS for this wonderful gift, it really was not
expected; every time I use this mallet I will think of the generosity of you all.

Below are a few pic's of the mallet

Once again thank you all, it was all the participants that made SS a success, I've decided that next year I will enter myself and get Philly to do the draw.

Now that's what I call a WAKA WHACKER!!!

I have never entered SS before but if it was as superbly managed and orchestrated as it was this year in years gone by, then I missed something special!

The spirit, communications, gentle chivvying and superb result was entirely down to your hard work and I will be entering next year...

Phil has a mountain to climb...that's for sure!

Thanks mate!

Hi, Waka

You did a cracking job it's only fair you had a reward.

Pete

And very well deserved. People really do need nudging from time to time and were gently nudged into making a very happy and successful endeavour.
That's the second one I've watched from the sidelines. Must try to get organised about entering next time. Maybe if I start now ...

Hi Waka,

this is well earned. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks again for a wonderful organized Secret Santa.

And thanks to MikeC who organized this. I think your idea hit the nail.

Cheers

Assuming people want me to I'll run it again next year, I'll just get Philly to draw the names out the hat, as I'm entering myself.

Is that the acrylic impregnated mallet? Ooooh, I'm jealous. It's on my short list of things I want to get. Well, to be more accurate, its very high up on my very long short-list. If that makes sense...

Is it as good a tool as I've heard? By all accounts it's unsurpassed...

I must say I admire the SS arrangement and it was one of the reasons I was drawn to this site in the first place - the community element. Brilliant.

That was almost instant delivery from Mike and the rest of the guys at Classic Hand Tools. The 16oz mallets were out of stock and to say he went out of his way to get one for Tony is an understatement =D>

I must say that when I came up with the idea and put it to the SS participants they rallied around without hesitation, and all to show Waka how grateful we were. =D>

Without giving to much away, there will be some eagle eyed members who know how much we raised and the pictures I sent around. To them I will say be patient :-"

Tony I hope that you get many years of use.

Cheers

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Now I know what SS means! :) Congrats on winning the mallet

That really shows the spirit of this forum/ community, well played to Waka for organising the whole 'Shebang', I'll definitely be in this coming Christmas. I was just far too busy this one just gone. I'm excited already! Wooooo-hooooooo! :ho2 :ho2 :ho2 :ho2 :ho2

Cheers _Dan.

Humbug!..it'll just give him something else to gloat about   Nicely done though Waka  - Rob

Mike

I got the chance to use the mallet yesterday and I have to say it was a real pleasure, it's so well balanced and comfortable to use.

If anyone is thinking of getting one then I'd certainly recommend it.

That's good Tony,

Now to those who kindly donated the money, what shall I do with what is left over? I was thinking about giving it to charity, or the RNLI to be exact, but you may have another idea, so let me know ASAP.

Cheers

Mike
