Water based Clear Lacquer for Spraying

Hi All,

I make speaker cabinets, mostly veneer on top of birch plywood. I'm thinking about getting an HVLP spray system to apply clear-coat and would value some recommendations for a water based product ideal for spraying?

Some products say 'can be sprayed' but I wonder if there are any designed specifically for it?

I use sayerlack clear water based lacquer which I buy from movac.

Their code is HNAF7210/6 (10% sheen 6litre, HNAF72/40/6 is 40% sheen etc).

you can apply coat on coat.

Very nice finish, we've done kitchens with it.

I see they also offer AT99xx 'Finest Quality Clear Water Based Lacquer'. Any idea how this differs than the one you suggest?

They do coat-on-coat or base-coat / top-coat solutions.

What is the advantage of base-coat / top-coat? Is it going to give me a better looking finish or is it just harder wearing?

AT99xx - I dont, I shall have to ask the rep next time, perhaps its like tesco's finest; comes in a better wrapper

Base / top coat, has the advantage that the base coat has stearate in it and is easier to sand back / denib. Coat on coat will give you same looking finish and same hardness, just a bit more difficult in sanding back.
