Well that is what I call it. Measures 5" X 3 1/2" finished with sander sealer and gloss spray on acrylic.

Got the shape just right with this one Dalboy. The wood is beautiful and the simple (not easy) shape really lets it speak for itself. Think the official term is 'open form' LOL. Vase will do though.

Thank you all. Yes it is a great wood especially for turning always seems to come out with a nice rich colour once the finish is applied.

I don't know why I seem to end up making a lot of simple shapes. I must try some other shapes and add things to it the next piece that I have planned is totally different in style even though there is a nice simple shape involved in it.

Making simple shapes is a lot more difficult than one with complex coves beads etc. Any defects show, if the shape isn't right it sticks out like a sore thumb. Being able to make a 'simple' curve like the one here is a mark of skill and not to be seen as easy or basic.

That's a good one Derek, as already said simple form lets the wood talk.

Very nice vase Derek, wood and design working well together. Good turning!

Thank you again for the compliments guys. This was going to be larger but some splits in the wood dictated the size unfortunately I could not incorporate them into the design

I like the clean and smooth shape. More my thing than the detailed coves. And an excellent choice of timber.
