So there i am trying to make a set of 'his & hers' gentlemans and gentlemans classic pens for a friends wedding in just a couple of weeks time (then i have to get them sent to Kent and am hoping that they can be used at the signing of documents etc....), and said friends rings me on Saturday morning and says.... "I've be waiting for a moment when Katie pops out, is it possible for you to make me a ring box to use on the day.... a little secret that she won't know anything about"?

"Of course says i...." thinking oh my god i've now got to try and squeeze that in too....

Here's the little ring box i made yesterday, using Walnut......

oh blimey, i think the last 'batch' i bought were from John Davis (google him) based at Chilbolton nr. Stockbridge Hants. Previous to that Turners Retreat i think, but they cant be bought from several suppliers. Not cheap though..... i think this little 28mm one was around the £3.50 mark.

Nice !

Like the idea of the brass threads, you even have the sponge to locate the ring in 1!!

Well done,

Thanks guys for the comments....

Loz: the little bit of 'foam' as you put it is in fact a circle of green sticky-back felt i put in the bottom.

Richard: definitely walnut, it's an off-cut from a piece of American Black Walnut i got from Bamptons in Southampton. I think it's my poor photography (again) that's making it look very orangey

Oh ! - like baize ? - Baize in the woodturning forum !!!!!

Sorry thought it was a peice of slotted foam to hold the ring.

nah.... i did the bit of 'pink' foam afterwards to hold the ring upright....

didn't want the best man fumbling around on the day and end up just up-ending the box to get said ring out.
