For those of you that remember this topic in the design forum... Here is the (nearly) finished product.
Its my first time using walnut, and I must say what a pleasure it is to work with.
I found some beautiful figure when I planed up one of the boards. I decided that I wanted to incorporate it into the top. However there was not enough of the figured wood to span the width. I worked round this by framing two pieces of the figured wood which gave me the depth I needed.
It is quite difficult to see the extent of the figuring in this photo, but trust me... It's beautiful.
The pillars are made from two pieces of maple laminated together and the turned on the lathe.
It is finished with danish oil but still needs one or two more coats.
I am delivering it next week, so I will post a picture of it completely finished with the most enormous plasma screen on top.
Hope you like it.
