Thanks very much for posting that. I had not seen it before. About 5 years ago my wife and I spent some time in Cremona and I was able to spend a week or so working / watching in one of the numerous violin maker's workshops. (my wife was doing an Italian refresher). They had this old Italian guy who worked part time and he would come in and carve the scrolls. I had been there a couple of days (very long days - we worked right into the evening) when he first came in and I had already spent at least a day painstakingly carving a scroll, which he thought was highly amusing as he could knock them out in about 60 minutes from scratch, just using hand tools and mostly by eye. If you are interested in Violins Cremona is a fascinating place to visit. Leave your wallet at home though - bought tools that I rarely if ever use, but which are almost works of art in their own right. Plus I ended up buying a hand made violin. Bow making is another art - always done by different people.

Cool video, thanks for sharing. Looking at the guy work, you'd think there's nothing to it...
I once glued a loose bass bar on my daughter's 1/4 size violin with epoxy.
A luthier I know said I ought to be shot. :)
