can Veritas (and Lee valley) survive? - 25% tariff into USA where most of their tools are sold, from Canada, where most are made --- (I know 30 day pause, but we're already 2 days into that).

The tarrifs won`t last. Trump is just doing it to get some negotiations going and to show he is not messing around.
An agreement will be sorted out, especially if Poilievre gets in.

I recently found out from a Swedish site that Veritas planes and blades are now ordered separately by suppliers, hence the blades are in the plastic holders. Most UK sellers only offer planes bundled with the PMV11 blades. Veritas have had difficulty in keeping products in stock. So many tool manufacturers have gone or struggle because of having too large a range of options. I rather suspect Lee Valley mainly depend on their retail stores for income. With Axminster and now Turner's Retreat moving out of rented retail premises in the UK it doesn't look good for hands on shopping here.

"I rather suspect Lee Valley mainly depend on their retail stores for income."

Given that there are only 18 retail stores in all of Canada and the US doesn't have any, online is still a major source of income. Demand is always high and suppliers and Veritas can't always keep up or get the materials. Hands on shopping is in decline here too and LV has had to close several stores when the landlords have jacked up the rent killing the profitability of those locations.
