Hi all hope you hand a great xmas :D
Has anyone seen the miniature veritas shoulder plane on ebay ? its only 1/4 inch wide do you think its just a novelty or do you think it is useful as i am tempted ? :? :?

Well it works, so while it is a novelty, it's not just a novelty, if you see what I mean. (A shaving to prove it among the pics here) Could be just the tool for the job, but possibly not very often. My problem with it is it's so cute and small, I'm afraid to take it into the workshop for fear of it getting lost!

Cheers, Alf

It will never go for cheap anyway. Especially now you've mentioned it on here...

Ditto. Mine is on the mantlepiece, might make it into the workshop one day...

It went for £28.50 plus £12.50 postage - cheaper to buy one direct from LV I think?

I bought one in Toronto - everybody I've shown it to are amazed at the quality and the size.

I got one of these for Xmas from SWMBO - they are ideal for doing small jobs / details. I do quite a bit of box making etc and am sude it will get a lot of use when inlaying or doing final fitting etc.

It takes a really nice shaving from the box and even better with 5 mins tlc.

I can also confirm, direct from LV IS cheaper than that ebay item!

I'm amazed that any size good plane can be bought for that sort of price. I actually thought that the ebay item would be a decent price.
I think I'll be adding one of those to my wish list.

That is what I thought - however, it arrives very nicely presented (not that that makes the surface produced any better but does add to a feel of quality), both sides and sole have been finely ground and (on a sample of one), were perfectly flat from the box.

A top quality little item!

Hi -

Just for your reference - postage for a 1lb packet sent by Air Mail (stated 2-4 week delivery - but is usually faster...) is $14.03 CAD.

However, for international orders we use USD, so the plane would be $29.50, and the shipping about $13.50.... so $43 USD delivered.
