Anyone know where I can purchase either vinyl or polyurethane sheeting from. I need it to make a bag for a vacuum press that I'm hopefully buying.
Also, is solid core PVC pipe likely to be stocked by the 'sheds', or is it a specialist thing (as opposed to foam core).
TIA
Adam. :?

I think all PVC drainage pipe is "solid core"* in the UK. The brown underground sewage stuff is most reliably going to be thick-walled stuff (rather than rainwater drainage pipe). Whether it is good enough to meet the requirements ... maybe ... but I don't know for sure.

(*it would be more accurate to say "solid wall" -if it was truly a solid core pipe the **** would back up pretty rapidly).

Looks like you have been looking at American sites re the pipe spec.

Our nearest would be classes as UPVC Pressure pipe, this has a much thicker wall than soil and waste pipes. You won't get it in the sheds, try swimming pool or specialist Koi (Pond fish) outlets. here is an online supplier, but a google for "Class E" or "Class D" pipe will find others

Foam Core is not suitable for pressure thats why they say use solid core.

You could try Bagpress for the sheeting -

Bagpress
Unit 6 Flint Road
Letchworth
Hertfordshire
SG6 1HJ

Garden centres sell PE sheeting which will work just fine for a few uses, I scavenge heavy grade clear bags for smaller projects. Obviously specific made bags are better for lots of use but there's a lot of nonsense talked about the need for huge motors and impervious sealing systems for vacuum systems thst just isn't right

Ah, glad I hesitated then.

I was planning to use an old (properly flushed) propane/butane cylinder as the reservoir.

If you don't mind a non-translucent material, whilst exploring your Koi carp suppliers premises for pipe, ask about butyl pond liner (black synthetic butyl rubber). Agricultural merchants may be able to help with really heavy butyl if you need it later, as it is used to line farm irrigation reservoirs (just big ponds, really).
