when I had an allotment and had old petrol to use up
I did like the desert rats (ARMY i think ) put gravel/soil in a tin box with a grate on the top
pour some of the old petrol in the dirt/gravel, light Carefully
now you are ready to put the brew/kettle on

I keep a couple of litres of stale petrol for use as a degreaser, tool cleaner, removing glue/ sticky residues etc. I've also used it burn out old tree stumps etc. After using as a degreaser I've thrown a cup or two into my heating oil tank. I probably wouldn't recommend doing this with a new boiler but doesn't bother me in my 25+ year old installation.

My dad was a desert rat. He used to do this all the time as a patio heater, in the cut off bottom of a gas bottle filled with sand. Always surprised me how long it would burn for a quite small amount of petrol.
