I came across this little gem from lavasys. It's called Everest and gives you more data about your computer than you could possibly ever want. I was a bit concerned about my laptop as every so often the hard drive gave a little 'ticky zipping' sound and I was a bit worried that it might be on the way out.

Anyway, there are some smarts built into the hard drive/computer (called SMART funnily enough) and Everest displays all the data from this ..with an indication as to whether or not things are OK or possibly going to fail. It gave my hard drive a clean bill of health which is reassuring.

Only costs about £16 which is damn good value.

Still going to back up though

Hi Old

Just checked out PitStop...very useful in a different way particularly with their recommendations.

Check out Everest if you can...gives a different perspective! They have a demo version
