Hi all

been a while since last posting, I got hold of some vintage chisels and noticed that the edge had a slight curve in the grind from the left to right corner on some firmer chisels. Is this a feature or an anonmally due to poor sharpening technique from the previous owner?

Jon

Maybe technique and using poorly maintained stones which have gone hollow.
Check the best face of the chisel for a decent flatness followed by a decent square grind as required.
Cheers, Andy

How slight? Were they sharp and usable? If so there was nothing wrong with the sharpening technique. A "slight" curve isn't going to make much difference to anything.
