Well, I've just got back from work and this had arrived from the bay...

I'm very excited as it's a woody, but with proper adjusters (don't curse Jimi, it might be easy for you to adjust the woodies with a mallet (hammer) , but it takes me forever)! And it has a lovely smooth lignam base.

The blade looks good too and the cap iron is beveled like the iron, which I've never seen before (in my huge, three or four weeks of experience).

What look like nicks, aren't, they are just dirt. It has come with instructions, but my GCSE German won't stretch that far...does anyone have a copy in English? I'll have a google tomorrow when I get up. Can't wait to try it out on some wood!

Andy, thanks very much mate.

Graham, course you can...£37 plus postage of about £7.

Down to the shed in a bit, although it might be tomorrow before it sees any wood as I'm back on lates.

It certainly does Giuliano. I've sharpened the iron, which had a micro bevel at about 30 degrees.

Do you think I need to put that back on again? It seems to take lovely shavings and the sole is dead flat.

I've never seen two screws before on the chip breaker, or a cb with a bevel on it.

That knob at the top is the lateral adjuster.

That knob at the top is the lateral adjuster.

The whole Ulmia system (depth, lateral, CB and tension spring) is unique.

Cheers BB, is it generally well thought of? I really like the look and feel of it, but what do I know?? ;)

It's Ulmia's reworking of the Primus plane, hopefully it should work better than the Ece Primus. My preference is always Ulmia over ECE .The steep bed angle and adjustable throat make them nice on awkward grain
