two spalted beech forms

hello folks- yep more spalted beech :roll:

9" high x 5" wide 3/4" hole

8"wide x 4-1/4" high 3/4" hole

I take it that these are the results of what you cut up the other day :?:
Will that lovely Brown colour dry a lighter shade :?:
Did you use the Munro tool to do em :?:

no paul these aren't from what i cut the other day i'll show you those soon.
these are now dry and fully oiled so the colours are what they are now.
I used the mini munroe for part of them.

How long did these take to season just out of interest.

they take about a week- there about 3-5mm wall thickness so that speeds it up.

I can say nothing by way of critique of these forms, they're lovely!
The grain orientation on the top form is a stunner. Glad it dried so well.

I agree the photos seem better with the background, but wonder if a bit of side lighting may help?

Apologies for being a nag, but having seen so many of your pieces for real, i reckon your photos (while good) don't do them justice!

I'd put money on those beech forms being even nicer than they look here!

Have you posted any WIP threads of how you go about turning your forms? If not, would you mind doing one? It's your work, along with a few other that has re-kindled the turning bug for me, I'd love to learn how a pro would go about turning this stuff.

Both pieces are lovely. Lots of interest in the wood, excellent finish.

For myself I do prefer the shape of the second piece.
