A forum member is coming in tomorrow and thought I would try and get a box completed as a gift.

So by 9.30am I had managed to cut some strips and get them glued up, Ash & Black Walnut.

Found two more offcuts to prepare for the lid.

put through bandsaw & thicknesser and then cut to strips using my jig which rides on the fence.

Finished up with a nice offcut which is only 0.75mm thick, (always useful those bits )

Lid strips prepared and ready to glue up

So morning session complete and awaiting glue to set, will give three hours.

Went back out for the afternoon session.

Mitred the corners on carcass sides, and prepared for gluing using masking tape as usual.

that was a 100 minute session, might call it a day or go in this evening and do a roundover of all edges ready for final fitting tomorrow.

Lid piece glued up well over night, so put the roundover bit to its edge.
I will roundover aperture when lid has been glued on and set.

Lid rebated under to fit carcass and glued in position.

So that was another hour happily spent.

Brought the box indoors to the playroom and placed near a radiator with a weighted saucepan to hold lid whilst glue sets.

Nice one John, I have used danish oil then wax on the ones I make, to be honest I have never used sanding sealer but might give it a go on the next lot I make.
