Turning a Carvers Mallet?

I'm in need of a carvers mallet and someone said that if I asked really nicely there where skilled people in here who may be intrested in turning an item for a fellow forum member. I have piece of chestnut that may be up to the job as well if thats a suitable wood for turning and using as a mallet, but I'm not sure.
