Take a look at the Trend T11 router for table use, has a built in winder mechanism that you use from above the table, and a locking "on" switch which is helpful. Addition of an Xtreme Xtension collet (bit pricey but worth it) puts the icing on the cake in terms of ease of use.

Cheers, Paul :D

I've been looking for some brushes for the big router and the circular saw for a while but they are as rare as rocking-horse s***e. Any link to any would be very much appreciated.
And silverline have ignored all my requests too.

Not doing themselves any favours are they! All they have to do is write one polite email to cover all Triton enquiries. Not too much to ask to be a little civil.

I've removed the brushes from my new TRA001. They look like this:

They're referred to as "single tail plus spring" as I understand it. The dimensions are as follows:

Thickness (shortest dimension): 7mm
Width and breadth are the same: 17mm
The correct way to give these dimensions is: 17mm x 7mm x 17mm

I thought that I'd found a supplier at Battery Power Systems Limited, but the ones they show are larger. The link is to their Contacts page, so it might be worth an enquiry, kafkaian, now that you've got the dimensions. HTH :)

In relation to the "vice jaws clamp thingy," Martin, what do you need exactly? Is it the log jaws, the engineers' jaws, what? I'll have a poke around once I know (together with Tom's log jaw enquiry). :). :)

You're a star Ray. Very, very much appreciated. Thank you

As a temporary "fix" if brushes wear out, it may be possible to buy something slightly too big from a domestic electrical appliance repairer (if there are any left!) and gently sand them to size. Have done this in the past.
And if anyone has a need for odd appliance brushes, I've got several sorts drawers full of them - came in a sorts cabinet from a sale, and I'll never use them, so PM me if interested.

Thanks Argee for the brush details. Written those figures into my Triton router manual.
I have some recollection of making carbon brushes way back in the past for some other appliance so it should be feasible to knock something up for the Tritons.

I've now heard from Silverline. The part of their reply that's relevant states that they are: "still the European exclusive distributors of Triton."

Ray.

Cheers Ray, just saw your previous reply. One thing I couldn't easily find was what diameter of log they can hold and if anyone came up with something that held bigger.

Thanks for the info Argee. Big help as usual.
I'm trying at the minute to get some log jaws made up similar to the ones that fit the superjaws but beefier metal and a back brace to stop flexing and allowing me to hold bigger logs. But the welder I know is very busy at the moment .When I get them made i'll post some pics.

Good idea !

I have a set of the triton ones fitted and they're nothing special, just folded sheet steel with large serrations cut, it occurred to me also that something as good or better might be relatively easy to make, and they just attach with a couple of standard bolts and wing nuts if I remember correctly.

Cheers, Paul :D

I'm certainly interested in having some beefier log jaws made up. Would save my back to be cutting up at waist level and I feel it's safer than doing it on your knees or crouching.

If anyone can suggest a design I'll look into it.

My source has run out of stock of Superjaws. Your options now are D & M Tools, Sharpend Services or Yandles.

A former employee of Triton in Oz has secured the remaining spares and accessories, after fobbing off the members with a large amount of false info and BS (which I predicted but which no-one has acknowledged now as correct), but the company itself is no more, AFAICT.

Ray

I'm hoping they will post to the uk. :?:
And it looks like the Woodworking Center in Northhampton will be the last place that has anything at all. And he was waiting on "delivery" from somebody last time I emailed him. Doesn't look like that will happen now :( . They have an open day this weekend so I may pop up and ask in person.
