Hi

Do you know of any Metric Guide Bushes that fit the TRITON TGA001?

Thank you.

There is the TG285 30mm worktop jig guidebush, around a tenner + postage from here. The centralising plate (used to ensure concentricity of the plate and collet before fully tightening the baseplate screws onto the metal carrier) accepts the range of Porter Cable type (two-part) bushes - not sure whether they come metric, but I think Leigh Industries do some metric bushes. Or, you could get a sub-base, such as this one, or a Trend GB5, which means that you can then use their complete range of metric (and Imperial) bushes. HTH :)

Ray.

Hi

Thank you for the info.

The Milescraft Base is a bit like the Trend UniBase.

I have a Trend UniBase, it doesn't fit the TRB001. I am not very impressed with it. Seems a bit cheap and nasty.

Do the Americans or Australians ever use Metric?

Thank you

But for routers it does fit it works well, I have used one on my little Bosch for template work to cut inlays.

Hi

I think that the plate alternatives by Trend are a much better solution than the UniBase. There isn't a fantastic difference in price either.

Bye for now

The link I provided was not to the Unibase, but to the GB5, which does fit and works well.

Hi Ray

I was replying to DaveL in my last post.

I agree with you. The GB5 is OK.

Do the Americans or Australians ever use Two Piece Metric Guide Bushes?

Funnily enough the Australians use the metric system almost exclusively. Road signs are in km and weights and measures are in grams and litres. My Triton WC2000 has metric scales too so it seems strange that they would go with imperial sizes for the guide bushes on what is probably their most successful product. The Americans on the other hand are firmly wedded to the imperial system and don't seem likely to change any time soon.

Hi George

I will ask on the Australian Forum.

I will post their reply.

Bye for now.

Hi

Just an update.

No replies on US and Australian Forums.

I have a guy in Holland looking into it.

I will post any update.

Do you have access to a metal lathe. They are the easiest things to make.I just made two yesterday out of 75mm delrin (acetyl)rod. You can make them any size you want .I made a 1/2" and a 1/12" one as i couldnt find them anywhere to fit a dewalt 621k.

Hi Bob

No, I don't have access to a lath.

There is probably a market for someone to set up and produce these.

I will keep trying to find them.

I will let you know if I come across any for your DeWalt.

Bye for now

Hi

I think I have found a solution.

The overall diameter of the Triton Guide Bush plate is 60mm.

The overall diameter of the Trend Guide Bush plate is 60mm.

In theory, Trend Guide Bushes should fit in the Triton TGA005 Guide Plate that is part of The Triton TGA001 Template Guide Kit.

This would allow the use of Trend Metric Guide Bushes along with the full range of Trend Imperial Guide Bushes.

You would not need the Trend GB/5/Q Sub base.

I realise that there would only be about 3mm projection but this is all Trend use with their Dovetail Jig.

Has anyone used any of the Trend Bushes with the Triton Guide Plate?

There are probably other makes of guide bush that would have a larger projection. I will continue to look for any.

Bye for now

That's such a simple solution - and it works, too! You can get Trend guide bushes with extended length collars - the 30mm worktop guide is one, there may be others. Well done, Chop n Join. :)

Ray.

Hi Ray

I think it is only the 30mm that has a 10mm projection in the Trend Range.

Bye for now
