Well my cold forming experiment was a success but as you can see from the chair on the right I did not make the back rests thick enough. In order to use the morticer to cut those slots I think I would have needed a further 2 layers of the 1.5mm ply. The solution was simple enough, just wack on another single layer after the mortices were cut

Just the final sanding and finish to apply. Due to time restraints I'm going to use a quick drying varnish, I hope I do not live to regret that as I would have preferred to use oil.
