I had a job come in that needed me to route some names into some oak and put coat hooks underneath for a cloakroom .
I looked high and low for jigs that did upper and lower case letters but to no avail . A big thankyou to Scrit for offering to make them for me if needed .
The customer wanted to keep costs down so i went for the Trend jig .
They are well made and very very easy to use with the aid of two speed clamps . The only down side is they dont do lower case letters
I called Trend to ask and they did offer to ask technical , then came back and said no . Why not Trend ?
Anyway top marks to Trend on this one , im not the biggest fan of Trend as i think they are aiming at the hobby market and limiting the trade market to their stuff by flooding retail shops with their goods . All IMHO .
Anyway well done Trend

I've used the Trend templates too and whilst they're not the cheapest on the market, they are very effective. It's such a pity they don't make templates in lower case but I suppose I'll have to make my own. One day... when I get a round tuit...

Of course, you need to buy the dedicated router cutter and guide bush to use the Trend templates. KerrrrrChinnnngggg!

I didnt buy a dedicated bush or cutter but then i have them all anyway

Hi Jason

It looks really good.

After I'd bought the Trend I found a set on the Rutlands site that does lower case. IMHO, it's better than the Trend as you don't have to work out the spacing.

It's also cheaper.

Cheers

Hi Neil

One of the reasons I prefer the Trend templates is that you have to set the spacing! The ability to vary spacing helps to make a sign that is easier on the eye, in my opinion.

If you look at JFC's photo, he's naturally used this to good effect on the name "Mary", ensuring that the 'R' and 'Y' are slightly closer together than the rest of the letters.

Horses for courses, I suppose.

Neil,
I can see two lettering templates on the Rutland site and neither specify lower case letters. Which one do you have, Dakota or Milescraft?

Andy

I tried the Milescraft one , erm anyone want to buy a milescraft letter jig ? Its really good 8-[
Milescraft has large and small capital letters .
