Having decided to wait and see if i can get a 2nd hand cast iron planer thicknesser i now am hunting everywhere for places that may sell 2nd hand tools? Websites auctions that are any good etc.

Anyone in northern ireland or dublin got any ideas? Also southern based tool companies with online sales would be useful too

Cheers!

Oh and lastly does anyone in the belfast area use a sawmill for timber? I'm currently buying at brooks in the docks but would like to find a sawmill too.

I haven't used them, but this bunch give their address as Galway:

Despite their name suggesting that they sell industrial tools though, from a quick look at a few of the machines on their site they seem not to be what I picture when I think of industrial (I think of big ugly cast-iron monsters that weigh as much as a small planet :) ). I'm not sure how they compare with others for prices either, and I suspect (although I haven't checked) that their prices are ex-vat.

There are several suppliers of woodworking machinery around Dublin but I haven't found a website for any of them.

This one is a company in Co. Laois, but although the machinery certainly looks industrial (and second hand), the fact that the URL refers to 2004 isn't very encouraging:

I buy dried boards from Mc gregor and sons but they are the same as brookes

I buy my native air dried boards from M Large tree surgeons they have quite a selction in Yew,Elm and Sycamore but dont expect to buy some and use it the next day you may have to wait several months and you will also need a moisture meter, they have a big yard in Newtownabbey and best times to visit are Sat morning.

As for tools I always buy new so cant help you there.
