Hello I have not been to the Axminster show before and had not intended to go this year as it is so soon after the D&M show but I have taken up Woodshavings generous offer of a ticket for Thursday,
I would love to meet up with others in the group to put faces to names so if you do not mind I will try and find Terrys stand at 12:00 and introduce myself, looking forward to meeting you,

Nigel

So, Thursday, 12 o'clock, at Terry's stand. OK?

Noel, who has to get up at 4.00 am.

I feel really sorry for all the lucky Gits who are at the Axminster show show.......
Roll on Saturday!
Cheers
Philly :D
Hoping Noel, Adam and Alf leave some of the good stuff for me......

Too late mate.

It's all gone. We cleared out Clifton and LieNielsen between us.

Adam

I'll just sit here doing nothing while you're all
living it up at the show :(

Never mind Saturday, roll on Ally Pally

So what goodies did you come back with Adam

Andy

Ahh, I have to admit, the only thing I bought was a mortice chisel from Clifton, and couple of leather cases (a little like spectacle cases) for my spoke shaves from LN. The most unexciting purchases imaginable.

I did get a bessey strap clamp though - something I've needed for a long while now. :)

That's it - the rest of the time was spent just wondering about.

It was good to meet up with everyone at lunch - unbeknown to us at the time, Gidon, Waterhead, Bugbear and myself were all stood in a line watching the Rob Cosman hand cut dovetails tutorial. Waterhead I knew, so tapped him on the shoulder and said hello, and Bugbear introduced himself to Rob Cosman as they knew each other from Woodcentral postings, and Gidon recognised my ugly mug from a photo - so introduced himself. We all seem to have gravitated to Rob Cosman and his wide selection of LN tools!

Adam

I thought I'd have a look at Rob Cosman's web site. It's not surprising he has a lot of LN tools.
There are some lovely images of fine furniture there too. I must add a set of his winding sticks to my xmas list

Andy

It was a really good day out - great to meet everyone and see Andy and Martin again (what a great bunch :)). I was absolutely knackered by the end of it. They were no demos to sit down and watch so I just found myself wondering around all day, stopping for the odd chat with some UKW'ers and 5 mins for lunch! I did all my purchasing in the morning pretty much - and spent the whole afternoon just wondering about - spending far tool long on the Veritas and LN stands!
As far as I could tell there really were no show bargains. All prices pretty much what's in the Axminster catalogue. But there was far more room to move than last year when I went on Saturday.

Funny that eh? :D

Hi all,

Aldel here again. Had a great day out at the tools 2004 show and met some of the forum stalwarts. Took some quick snaps which you can find here http://www.aldel.co.uk/Tools2004.htm. Being a newbie and wasting time chatting I forgot to write down names to put to faces so perhaps you can send me a PM for me to add them.

cheers Aldel

Aldel
Cheers for posting the pics (and making me jealous! )
I'm sat at my desk at work looking at my Tools 2004 floorplan, day dreaming the day away. Your photo's made my day.
best regards
Philly :D
Who Will Be There Tomorrow!!!!!! :D

Adam,
Yes thanks, got here around lunchtime having stopped off in for an hour or two in Wiltshire to do a bit of ancestral gravehunting!

I really enjoyed the show this year, especially good being able to put faces to names and have a chat with folk.

Yep, got back okay, only slightly blighted by acquiring a crack in the windscreen.

And guess who failed to take any pictures apart from a couple at the start? Sorry.

Oh Aldel, I'll pay good money to be edited out of that pic, btw...

BlackmailPhilly

What about everyone else - your picture must have got most people in it Chris?

Adam (who unlike ALF managed to subtly reverse back out that picture, although it makes no odds, as my picture has been on here before!)

Boy, am I glad I arrived late for the photo shoot, but it was great meeting up with you all.

Done a tour of Devon on way back Axminster Shop, Axminster Old Shop(empty and deserted) and Axminster Warehouse to pick up a Item.

BTW why have they got a pub in the middle of the road in Axminster Town? :?
