I'm sure someone asked a while back about storage for tools in the workshop, but I can't seem to find the post. In any case, yesterday I picked up a copy of "Woodworking Plans & Projects" magazine and they have plans for a very neat tool cabinet. Basically it has doors but you store tools in the doors, and there are extra doors inside if that makes sense. Overall it give 2sq meters of storage space in a much smaller area. It's a little bit like this one:

....but with more space. They made it using pine furniture boards, with dowelled joints, but obviously you can play around with it. The magazine comes with A2 plans for this project (and a dining chair).

Might be worth checking out if your tight for space, but be quick - the new issue is due out on the 9th so there probably isn't many copies left on the stands. Unless your go to WH Smiths in Exeter - there's loads!

Cheers,

Charlie

Mick - aha, thanks for that.

Olly - the version in the magazine has more room for hand planes!

Here is my version of the tool cabinet. I more or less had it finished a few days before the issue of "Woodworking Plans & Projects" came out. The door on the left opens out so I can get my squares etc on the front and some saws inside. The chisels on the right side door are held in place with some grips that I picked up in lidl. I glued cork floor tiles onto the shelves to protect the underside of the planes. It's small but you can fit a lot into it....now I just have to fill it :).
