Tool rack

I keep moving a pile of woodturning tools around the workshop these are my least used ones so thought it about time I built an extra rack to put them up on the wall, now I have no more wall space left. I also have another cupboard where the door is holding yet more tools which ideally I would like to have in a rack but that is for another day.

Here are the racks with the extra one in place and how quick I can fill them. I have already found another tool to fill the last gap

And now all filled including the empty space as I found another stray tool hiding.

I've got to build myself something like this. I currently rely on an Ax bar to hold my few tools and the grippy strength of the magnet isn't enough; the result is sometimes a cascade of turning tools clattering onto and around the lathe. Nightmare - Rob

I stand my less-used tools point down in a wooden box on the floor and find that I can access them quickly if I want to, but they take up very little space and I can recognise most tools just by looking at the handles. There's no reason why the box couldn't be fitted with castors but I've not found the need so far.

It's amazing how the longer you practice this turning lark the more tools you have that rarely move off the racks.

Kept these simple and using odd bits of pine furniture that I recycle. The good thing about making them hold just the ten in each is that they are not too heavy to lift down as they are held up using the french cleat system.

I went really basic, just cut some holes on end of bench, keep my regular use tools there.
