Whats the advice on tolerances for making something slide like a drawer?
Im messing about with a box to store my table saw blades as per below.
The material for the box is 12mm ply, and im using 2 x 6mm MDF glued together to make the trays, 1x6mm panel will have the circle cut out to project the blade, then glued to the other 6mm panel, edged with hardwood.
The current design has 12mm housings for each of the 'trays' with a 12mm gap between each.
Based on the fact that the tray is 12mm and the housing is 12mm, I assume this is too tight to make it slide out, so should I use a 1/2"/12.7mm bit to make the housings, so have .7mm tolerance and is that enough? Same question for the width, I have the width of the 'slot' to put the tray exactly at 300mm, I can adjust the depth of the housing though easily enough
Rebate on the front it to put in a front panel which will then be clipped in place
