Phil... Agree 100% ! I try to encourage him as best I can ... and so far, he's keeping at it and doing me proud 8)

Byron ... Tremonti is another 'great call' ....
Really like the current Alter Bridge stuff, and hearing it done a-la 'unplugged' / acoustically ... every bit as good. 8) 8)

A very fine player indeed

FWIW, also go along with what you say on Jimmy Page ... Zeppelin as a whole, --- Astounding.
What a vocalist Plantie is/was ....
Jimmy's 'odd fascination' ( ) with Crowley always gives him an aire of intrigue... but i know what you mean with regards to his playing style.

But then again.. all joking aside, IMHO, one of the finest and sadly under-rated and probably under-utilised vocal talents this country has ever seen ( in the rock genre ) -- Sir Nodwin of Holder, from Slade.
By jeeze, that bloke could chant a fair tune out

-- I'm liking what Seether do too... the vocals ( especially where the main man over-dubs his own harmonies ) are impressing me currently.
8) 8) ... especially their 'less recent' stuff.

Absolutely !

My lad ( 18 ) has the great fortune of currently attending music college.. HND .. at the moment, and he didn't START till he was 14 .. but currently has the luxury of 6 - 7 hours a day of practice, and by heavens is it paying off ...

he can do the "Arpeggios" without even a hesitation,
and is really now blowing me into the weeds, skill wise.

There's just no substitute for having that amount of time available to devote to it

Fortunately, he's taken the 'influences' on board with him.. and is a big Jimi / Zepp / etc fan .... Loves Serj, for Byron's earlier mention ... big into Buckethead, .. and all the (good) usual suspects...
I am delighted at the way this is going with him ...
he has the capability to really go places, if he keeps the focus.

he doesn't realise it.. but life for him, is one big picnic !! ( at the moment, I mean !! )

up until my full time employment (including uni) i luckily was able to put these sorts of hours in.... back then I'd easily jam out a riff for a solid couple of hours to nail it.....

now things come alot quicker, but getting the speed and dex. up takes sometimes months of "lunch times"....an hour tops

as a lad I was pushed into piano and was quiet good (grade 5 I seem to remember at about 11 years), but wanted the guitar. Picked it up at about 14 and have never looked back. I did need theory lessons a few years back because I was just getting bogged down in modes and chord progressions, i made it quite clear I wanted no technique help , no-one can teach you that really :?

nothing I'd like more than to win the lotto, build a massive workshop and studio and divide my time between wood slaughter and playing.....
we can all dream eh? back to my simulation/debug..... on good friday morning :?

Steve

That is a very familiar story !

I'm just waiting on that lottery win myself ... mine must be due the week after yours !

Once it inevitably comes... on will go the music room extension, the vast new workshop, a new Aprilia Tuono, .. the TVR Cerbera that I've always wanted, the full range of PRS Guitars & a new strat, a large speedboat, my own trout fishery, and the current Mrs J will be despatched and replaced with Eva Longoria

Ok, well the trout fishery is maybe pushing it a bit

of course when the lottery win comes through "my" kelly brooke will realise that I haven't been getting her email replys to my ones that I keep sending......

.... what dear? I'm just checking my email again.....

Steve 8)

oh and then of course I could pay for that enzo that I've been looking at, and the jem777, and why of course I could afford the roadie fees..... satch and via keep pestering me to headline their next jam 8)

Trout Fishery? Now you're just getting unrealistic! :)

My wishlist is a little more modest:

- Lotus Exige in metallic orange
- Edwardian cottage with a wood panelled mens 'smoking room'
- an acre or two of woodland
- Kate Beckinsale or Scarlet Johanson as a live in maid

Everything else would be a bonus :)

As for seether, I have their 'Karma and Effect' album on constant rotation, really strong album.

Metallic Orange Exige drooooooll !!!!!

I'd have that above the TVR, but I can't get in it !
THE most gorgeous vehicle going !!
Fantastic

and Steve, 'My' Kelley Brooke !!

Thats ace 8) 8) 8) 8)

drool worthy indeed!

Currently drowning in drool ! 8)

Either of which will be more likely to lead to ....
eva-longoria.jpg

Than the Ford Focus which currently sits on the drive.

I don't know how she's managed to resist me so far....
being a 'prize catch' n'all

( hope I'm allowed to post the lovely Eva .. and not incur the wrath of the moddies ..)

Barry Manilow's - Greatest Hits

Julie Andrews' - Songs my mother taught me

Nana Maskouri - The Kebab Song

Nina and Frederik - Little Donkey

I must introduce you to my brother-in-law, he listens to Daniel O'Donnell!!!!

John. B

The phrase from further up the thread would perhaps be 'opportune' ...

There are things which are an absolute affront to the ears.

The erstwhile Mr O'Donnell would certainly constitute such an offence, there's no doubt about it, John !
I have a MiL that has tortured me with his caterwauling, on more than one occasion

The other phrase... " Couldn't carry a tune in a bucket "also springs to mind.

And I'm afraid Eva will have to wait another week...
The Lottery people had obviously failed to have been informed of my numbers, and no funding will be forthcoming this week

Personally Jenx,
I can't stand him.
I get visions of 100's of 300 year ladies in print frocks swooning all down the isle        YUK

John. B

   I guess he 'serves a purpose' John!

And is, in that sense, catering for a demand....
all be it from a seas of Blue Rinse's and more than a whiff of Eternity by Estee Lauder

But like you say... he's not for me, either
