Tiny gaps in solid worktop, help.

Morning.
Recently sanded and oiled (osmo top oil) our solid Kitchen worktop. Been fitted for about 5 years and have had no problems. However, during the curing time we had to batch cook, so covered the worktop in towels to protect against splashes. Discovered that it has developed 3 tiny gaps in the glue-up beside the hob. Just tried to see if a sash clamp would pull the gaps together but no luck. Any one got any solutions?

If wide enough then I'd glue in some slivers of similar wood, if not then a filler is the only choice, I'd use epoxy as it is the most water resistant.

I'd fill with wax / osmo oil allow it to expand.

The wood has dried from the heat by the hob. Pretty much no matter what you do it will do it again, same spot or another. You'll be filling and touching up for some time to come. Best would be to cut back and replace the countertop either side for a foot or more with something that isn't bothered by the heat. Granite for example.

Superglue, several applications dribbled in to get the splits filled, scrape and flour paper back and then re-oil.

As Pete says heat is the problem. Granite or similar either side of the stove also provides someplace to put down hot pans.
